Computational Mathematics using SageMath

SageMath is a free and open-source mathematical software that can do Numerical Computations, Symbolic Computations or Manipulations, Graphing 2D and 3D objects and Programming. It is in fact a sophisticated computer algebra system (CAS).

Sage was initially developed by Prof. Willian Stein (formerly at the University of Washington). The first version of Sage was released in 2005 at Harvard University. Currently, it has version 9.0. The aim was to create a viable free open source alternative to Magma, Maple, Mathematica and Matlab. This workshop will help you to understand the fundamental basics of the SageMath software which could be proved to be a very handy tool later in your research work.

Dr Ajit Kumar, an experienced faculty in the Department of Mathematics, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. He has rich experience in using mathematical software and has conducted numerous training programmes. He has co-authored three books on this topic, Calculus with Sage, Linear Algebra with Sage and Group Theory – An Expedition with SageMath.
